Final Semester as President (Graduation Fair Day)

In October 2018, I pushed myself to step out of my comfort zone and embark on a journey that had always intimidated me: to serve as a leader. Over the course of four years, I have served in three positions on the Honors College HEARTS Art Club Executive Board: historian, vice president and president. This is my most beloved extracurricular experience. With my team’s support and guidance, I developed and finetuned my leadership style: empathetic, diligent and highly organized. In my first two roles, I strengthened my skills in graphic design and member engagement. As president, I restructured our internal communication and collaboration, manage internal projects and co-manage external projects, conduct team and club meetings, and recruit new executive board members to ensure the continuation of the club. My team members and club members come from diverse backgrounds: India, China and The Dominican Republic, to name a few. Two impactful experiences during my time as president include assuming leadership at the start of a global pandemic and co-designing our official club logo.

First E-Board Meeting

In December 2021, my beloved FIU professor, faculty advisor and friend, Hugo H. Ottolenghi, asked me to serve as the president for our university’s PRSSA chapter. For nearly two years, Professor Ottolenghi observed my leadership style, dedication to my studies and attention to detail, so he knew I was the right person for the job. I am currently building the foundation for FIU PRSSA's new executive board, which I hope will serve the chapter for years to come. The first four months of my presidency have been intense but rewarding. The professor and I recruited our executive board, and once our committee chairs were settled, we recruited additional members for their respective committees. Our team comprises of women from different national, racial and ethnic backgrounds. For instance, our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Chair Tonaj Jonas is an FIU Online student who is from and currently lives in Antigua. While building a solid team, we have been brainstorming, planning and executing program meetings and events. I look forward to establishing an efficient method for semesterly preparation and growing the chapter alongside my team.
